The heavy-metals panel screens your sample for the four elemental contaminants regulators watch most closely: arsenic, cadmium, mercury, and lead. Detection is by ICP-MS (inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry), which measures these elements down to trace levels.
When available, it can be ordered as a Custom add-on, on top of required Basic analysis and any product surcharge. Extra tests other than endotoxins require Custom rather than Standard.
Why it matters for peptides
Heavy metals can enter a compound from reagents, catalysts, or contaminated raw materials during synthesis. Unlike a fever from endotoxin, their harm is cumulative: arsenic, cadmium, mercury, and lead build up in the body over repeated exposure rather than causing an obvious immediate reaction.
That slow accumulation is exactly why a one-time screen is worth running on a compound you plan to dose repeatedly.
